Let's Have a Daddy Day by Karen Kingsbury & Dan Andreasen is a rhyming book about a dad spending a day with his children. First Mia's thoughts: I like it! I liked it a lot because I love my daddy. I like cover because it had the same raccoons from a page inside the book. My favorite page is the one where they are wrestling, because it makes me feel happy inside! It gave me lots of ideas of things to do with my daddy! I love the artwork because it's all about family and is have cute things like raccoons! Now my review. I really loved the book's concept. The dad is suggesting a range of activities to do with his children, and if one doesn't work because of weather or other circumstances, he has another fun idea at the ready. At the end, he reminds readers that they don't need special weather or equipment to spend a fun-filled day together, because as long as they are together, it will make a wonderful memory filled with love. Kingsbury tells the story in neat rhyming couplets that make the story run smoothly and capture the reader's ear. Andreasen's art has a bit of a retro feel, and the colors are all muted, making this a perfect bedtime story. His animals are realistic but with a sense of whimsy. Kingsbury reminds readers that it's all about the time together when it is spent in love.
