Yesterday I put out a plea for prayers from the FIRST blogging community. I've received emails in the past from Mimi, our intrepid ringleader, asking for prayers for various members. I always stop what I'm doing to pray and then keep praying for the next few days. Mimi invites everyone to stop by the member's blog and leave a comment, but I've never taken the time to do so. Yesterday I asked Mimi for prayers for the first time, but not for me, for my little brother Jake. You can read about his situation on my previous post here. His Tourette's isn't getting better, and junior high has turned into a form of hell on earth for him. I was amazed by the outpouring of support and love from this community of bloggers. The emails and comments on my blog started pouring in with prayers, love, and advice. It's when something like that occurs that you see the true strength and character of any community, and I have to say that I am very proud to be a member of FIRST.

Dillon Burroughs is an intriguingly insightful look at the popular TV series Lost. I watched the first season of the series, and while I always meant to watch more, I've never taken the time, but after the authors revelations about what Lost can teach us about faith, Jesus, and Christianity, I will have to give the show a second chance. Each chapter addresses a specific part of faith, discussing exactly what the series shows about it, as well as what the Bible has to say. While the series doesn't always get things right, it does reflect pop culture's take on things. The authors also delve into the various conspiracies surrounding the series with a few ideas as to what they believe is really going on. There are also many resources listed for getting more from the TV show, especially multiple websites devoted to it. It's a surprisingly fun read that educates about true faith, as well as making the reader want to rush out and watch the entire series!
